On-the-job training Safe work environment Growth opportunities Under the supervision of the Director, Shop Manager, or Lead Mechanic, Ground Service Equipment Mechanics are responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on ground support equipment such as tugs, vehicles, ground power units, and other equipment in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Performs preventative and routine maintenance such as oil changes, replacing/adding coolant and fluids, brake and tire changes, etc. on ground equipment. Performs minor/major repair of ground support equipment such as, starter motors, alternators, batteries, radiators, hydraulic drive components, diesel engines, etc. Transports vehicles to be repaired by driving, towing or pushing vehicle into service bay. Confers with Lead Mechanic on complex repairs requiring direction or approval. Inspects parts and/or motor vehicles to identify defective or broken parts, proper fluid levels and general wear. Troubleshoots problems with ground support equipment. Ensures tools and equipment are maintained in an effective, safe working condition. Receives work orders and obtains the necessary tools required for the repair. Completes work orders and provides status on any "open" work orders. Orders parts, stocks parts and maintains inventory with accurate record keeping. Keeps work area clean and free of any safety hazards.
Requirements:
HS Diploma, GED Must have strong reliability of reporting to work as scheduled. Minimum Five (5) years Truck, Forklift or Heavy Equipment experience, Three (3) years Prior GSE experience. Technical Degree or Truck ASE certifications is plus and will count towards experience. Self-starter with a strong ability to manage time wisely and work alone or in a team atmosphere. Able to work in an outside environment. Must be able to read and understand Electrical and Hydraulic Schematics and complete repairs. Have own tools and be able to operate various power and hand tools safely. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have basic understanding of the use of Apps on a mobile device. Flexible to work all hours/days including nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by operational requirements. Travel when needed to support other stations and maintenance projects. Must be willing to See Something Say Something in regard to security and safety issues. Clean driving record, with DMV certified copy. Strong focus on safety and environment compliance. Able to pass all pre-employment testing, including drug testing and background check as required by the TSA.
