SHOP AND FIELD MECHANIC

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shop and Field Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and automotive vehicles both in our shop and on-site at various field locations. Your expertise will ensure that all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and reliably, supporting our operations across multiple industries. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery using OEM schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repair, transmission work, hydraulic system repairs, suspension adjustments, and air brake servicing. Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs. Operate heavy equipment safely during field service calls or in-shop repairs while adhering to safety protocols. Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform automotive diagnostics on various vehicles including tractor-trailers and farm machinery. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed and parts used for compliance and future reference. Assist with assembly of new equipment or components as needed to ensure proper installation and operation. Skills Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for OEM equipment brands such as Caterpillar or similar manufacturers. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and metalworking for custom repairs or modifications. Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or other industrial equipment safely in both shop and field environments. Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, electrical diagnostics, tire service, brake systems, suspension alignment and vehicle maintenance. Ability to use power tools and hand tools effectively for assembly or repair tasks while maintaining safety standards. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients and team members. Capable of heavy lifting and working in physically demanding environments while adhering to safety guidelines.
