Technician Certification Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems and pneumatic equipment at City of Little Rock buildings and facilities. Responsibilities Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) systems; operates HVAC specific software to perform remote diagnostic work on the air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems for City of Little Rock buildings and facilities. Repairs and replaces defective components in heating and air conditioning systems; performs preventative maintenance by lubricating bearings, changing belts, and adding refrigerant. Reviews blueprints and specifications for proposed heating and air conditioning systems and makes recommendations regarding the types of systems that will be most efficient. Reviews work of heating and air conditioning contractors to ensure equipment and installation meet specifications and to become familiar with the equipment. Completes work orders for each project to include equipment identification numbers, time, and materials used. Maintains a supply of standard repair parts and filters; prepares requisitions and purchases supplies. Mixes chemicals and introduces the mixture into the water systems of chillers and boilers to prolong the life of the system. Checks low-pressure boilers for proper operation. Provides scope of work and specifications relating to the remodeling or replacement of heating and air conditioning systems. Operates a computer with spreadsheet, word processing, and software to prepare specifications, scopes of work, schematics, and drawings for HVAC system contractors. Operates a light truck to transport tools, materials, and equipment to various work sites in the performance of essential functions.

Skill in the operation of a computer, utilizing database, word processing and auto cad software. Skill in the operation of hand and light power tools. Skill in the operation of software specific to HVAC systems. Skill in the operation of electrical test meters and various gauges. Skill in the operation of an automatic transmission automobile. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in heating and air conditioning systems. Ability to utilize and operate HVAC software. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams and technical manuals. Ability to review work of contractors for compliance with specifications. Ability to maintain simple records. Ability to provide working supervision to assigned personnel on a project basis. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
