Whether you are a developing commercial technician ready to take greater ownership of service calls or an advanced technician who is the person others call when a difficult diagnostic problem comes up, we have a place for you. Our commercial technician career path includes three levels with pay and responsibilities aligned to your demonstrated technical abilities. You do not need to fit into a one-size-fits-all job description-we'll evaluate your experience and skill set to determine the level that best fits you. What You'll Do Depending on your experience and technical level, responsibilities may include: Perform commercial preventive maintenance, no-cool/no-heat service calls, inspections, diagnostics and quoted repairs Diagnose and repair package units, split systems, water-source heat pumps, fan coils, mini-splits and other commercial HVAC equipment Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant and airflow issues using wiring diagrams and diagnostic tools Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, brazing and component replacement Diagnose high•and low-voltage electrical issues, 3-phase systems, motors, compressors, economizers, actuators and power exhaust systems Work with VFDs, controls, pumps, hydronic systems and advanced refrigerant problems Depending on skill level, diagnose and repair larger and more specialized equipment including VRF systems, boilers, cooling towers and chillers Troubleshoot intermittent faults, communication problems, nuisance lockouts and complex control issues Complete accurate and detailed service documentation before leaving the job site Communicate professionally with commercial customers regarding findings, recommendations and completed work Help reduce callbacks by taking ownership of diagnostics and repairs Support and mentor developing technicians as your experience progresses Participate in a flexible on-call rotation What You Bring 2+ years of HVAC service experience Commercial HVAC experience strongly preferred EPA 608 certification Solid understanding of electrical and refrigeration fundamentals Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot HVAC equipment Ability to calculate superheat and subcooling and verify proper system operation Valid driver's license and safe driving record Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to continue learning Advanced experience with 3-phase electrical systems, VFDs, controls, hydronics, VRF systems, boilers, cooling towers, chillers or larger commercial equipment may qualify you for a higher technician level. NATE certification is preferred but not required. If you are ready to earn it, we can help you get there.
