Job Description

JOB TITLE
HVAC Technician
I REPORTS TO
Director of Support Operations 40 hours/week. 12 month position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will attend to HVAC work orders, work with vendors for larger repairs, complete small jobs (filters, belts, thermostats), help with other work orders, and attend further HVAC training.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filter and belt replacement) Attend to work orders, communicate with the supervisor, and Vendors Perform equipment diagnostics and basic repairs Interpret HVAC schematics and wiring diagrams Document work performed and ensure compliance with safety procedures Support on-call duties and emergency response Work under the guidance of senior staff Utilize power tools (e.g. drills, generators, saws, lifts, vacuum equipment). Climb ladders, ladder wells, and stairs. Work off ladders using hand tools and power tools, including working off lift platforms at heights above six feet. Operate refrigeration recovery equipment in compliance with EPA guidelines. Handle CFC refrigerant. Work in adverse working conditions such as confined spaces (e.g. tunnels, attics, vaults), dirty areas, low lighting, and extreme temperatures. Stoop, bend, and reach. Walk throughout the campus. Lift up to 75 pounds. Valid Driver's License Ability to push and/or pull approximately 200-300 pound weight loaded on wheeled maintenance carts to transport tools and equipment throughout campus to job site. May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator). Use of PPE may require prior medical clearance. Assist in completing Maintenance Work Orders. Assist in covering for site Custodial Staff as needed. Performs any other tasks that might be assigned by the Supervisor. Minimum Qualifications 0-2 years HVAC or facilities experience High school diploma Must have or obtain CFC certification within 6 months Valid Arizona driver's license Desired Qualifications Basic HVAC knowledge: air handlers, VAVs, exhaust systems, DX units Competency with hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment Ability to work safely with refrigerants and tools
