Certification Attention to detail Full Job Description Job Summary Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) journeyman skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems in commercial, and industrial buildings. Ability to work independently and lead projects, potentially supervising apprentices. Duties and Responsibilities Installing HVAC systems, including VRF / VRV, AHU's FCU's, heat pumps, refrigerant piping, ducts, duct accessories, diffusers, grilles, and thermostats. Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on existing systems. Diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning HVAC systems. Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics. Testing and calibrating HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance. Communicating effectively with clients, explaining system malfunctions, and providing recommendations. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes. Maintaining detailed records of service and repairs. Supervising and training apprentices as needed.
Skills and Qualifications Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate. Completion of an HVAC apprenticeship program. HVAC trade school. Experience in a related field, such as sheet metal work, HVAC service, or refrigeration, may be preferred.
Technical Skills:
Computer literate including general knowledge of programs (e.g., MS Office and Bluebeam) In-depth knowledge of various heating and cooling technologies. (VRF / VRV HP's, AHU's VAV's) Proficiency in reading, wiring, electrical, and mechanical diagrams. Skilled in operating and maintaining HVAC tools and equipment (e.g., multimeters, vacuum pumps, gauges). Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex HVAC issues. Understanding of industry codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Soft Skills:
Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship. Strong problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina to work in various conditions, including tight spaces, on roofs, and in extreme temperatures.
Certifications:
EPA 608 Certification (required for handling refrigerants). HVAC Excellence certification. NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification.
