Job Title:
HVAC Technician Job Description Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, recommending changes for improved efficiency. Install and maintain air conditioning units and systems, ensuring proper operation. Calibrate and maintain HVAC controls and assist with complex electronics or pneumatic controls. Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and work area, and requisition supplies as needed. Execute welding, brazing, and soldering tasks. Diagnose and repair issues with centralized air handling units, refrigerated air conditioning units, walk-in boxes, cold rooms, and chillers. Respond to heating or cooling complaints and make necessary adjustments. Test and balance HVAC systems to meet specifications and code requirements. Collaborate with other crafts on shutdowns involving heating, cooling, and power supply for refrigerated systems. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment. Recommend changes to equipment for better efficiency. Install new air conditioning units and systems. Calibrate and maintain manual and electronic controls. Maintain tools, equipment, and work area. Prepare requisitions for necessary supplies. Perform welding, brazing, and soldering tasks. Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC systems. Respond to heating or cooling complaints. Test and balance HVAC systems. Collaborate on shutdowns involving HVAC systems. Essential Skills Proficiency in HVAC service, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. Mechanical and electrical repair skills. Knowledge of BMS systems and air handling. Experience with plumbing, pneumatics, and boilers. Ability to operate standard tools and equipment. Problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to read blueprints and sketches. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate's Degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School preferred. Four to six years of related work experience. Five years of healthcare HVAC field work preferred. CDL California Driver's License. EPA Type 608 Universal Certification required. Adaptability to change and ambiguity. Effective communication skills. Work Environment This position is onsite at a hospital, working alongside a diverse team of healthcare engineers, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and more. The shift is from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Tuesday to Saturday, with initial training on the day shift. A uniform will be provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stanford, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $46.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
