Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment (including ammonia refrigeration), and building automation systems. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and conduct electrical system troubleshooting to identify faults accurately. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to execute precise repairs or installations. Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including pipe fitting and leak repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Utilize hand tools and welding equipment for mechanical repairs and equipment troubleshooting in various mechanical systems. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC/R systems to optimize performance and extend equipment lifespan. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients about system issues, repair timelines, and maintenance recommendations. Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports of all work performed for accountability and future reference. Adhere to safety protocols including EPA certification requirements for refrigerant handling and proper use of personal protective equipment. Assist in the installation of new HVAC systems ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Experience Proven experience working as an HVAC service technician or in a similar mechanical field role within industrial or commercial settings. Construction experience is highly desirable for understanding building infrastructure integration. Strong knowledge of HVAC system repair, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, building automation systems, electrical diagnostics, plumbing practices, refrigeration technology (including ammonia refrigeration), and boiler operation. Hands-on experience with electrical systems diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; ability to interpret wiring diagrams accurately. Mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with hand tools, welding equipment, appliance repair, property maintenance or field service roles. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles safely is required. EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in HVAC/R or boiler operation are advantageous.
