Job Description

Responsible for ensuring that all mechanical equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center and to support operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.

Military Occupational Specialty Code:
91E, 91C, EM, HT, MK, DC, 1161, 1341, 3E1X1 3-5 years of HVAC experience Commercial and/or industrial HVAC experience preferred EPA 608 Universal Certification High School Diploma or GED Valid driver's license Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation Familiarity with preventative maintenance practices Basic computer proficiency Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working on commercial rooftop units (RTUs) Experience with HVAC controls, BAS, or BMS systems Exposure to chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, or critical cooling equipment Experience in data centers, manufacturing, healthcare, industrial facilities, or mission-critical environments Experience supporting large-scale mechanical systems Journeyman-level progression or formal HVAC training Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, controls, and related infrastructure Monitor facility systems and respond to alarms, work orders, and operational events Conduct routine facility walkthroughs to verify system performance, temperatures, humidity levels, and equipment status Support operation and maintenance of: Air Handling Units (AHUs) Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units Direct Expansion (DX) systems Chilled water systems Pumps, motors, and VFDs Assist senior technicians with corrective maintenance and root cause analysis Utilize BAS/BMS systems to monitor equipment and investigate operational issues Complete work documentation and maintenance records in CMMS Support vendor activities and scheduled maintenance events Follow all safety procedures including LOTO, SDS, PPE, and site-specific protocols Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining operational awareness
