Job Title:
HVAC Service and Installation Technician Job Description This role focuses on servicing and installing HVAC systems, including heat pumps, gas furnaces, and oil furnaces, in residential and multifamily buildings across Northern Maryland. You will use your technical expertise and journeyman-level skills to deliver high-quality installations and repairs while ensuring safety, comfort, and reliability for customers. Responsibilities Install, service, and maintain HVAC units, including heat pumps, gas furnaces, and oil furnaces in residential and multifamily properties. Interpret and work from blueprints to ensure accurate installation and configuration of HVAC systems. Fabricate, modify, and install sheet metal components and ductwork to support HVAC installations. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete HVAC installation and service tasks. Troubleshoot HVAC system issues, diagnose problems, and perform necessary repairs in a timely and professional manner. Ensure all work complies with local codes, regulations, and industry standards. Handle refrigerants in accordance with CFC/EPA guidelines and maintain proper documentation where required. Communicate clearly with customers to explain work performed, system operation, and any recommended follow-up service. Maintain a clean, organized work area and company tools, equipment, and vehicles. Participate in an on-call schedule as required, supporting limited weekend and late-hour service needs. Essential Skills Active journeyman license in Maryland, Delaware, or Pennsylvania. Proven experience in HVAC installation and service, including residential HVAC install/service work. Hands-on experience installing and servicing heat pumps, gas furnaces, and oil furnaces. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints for HVAC installations. Skilled in sheet metal work, including fabrication and installation of ductwork. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in HVAC applications. CFC or EPA certification for handling refrigerants. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and installation best practices. Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple service or installation tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in residential and multifamily environments. Familiarity with gas boilers and related HVAC equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and customer service skills.
