In this energetic role, you will diagnose, repair, install, and maintain a wide range of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across diverse commercial and residential properties. Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC/R systems including refrigeration units, boilers, air conditioning units, and mechanical systems using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical knowledge. Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency. Install new HVAC/R equipment following industry standards and HVAC design specifications; including ductwork, piping, electrical wiring, and building automation systems. Repair or replace faulty components such as compressors, thermostats, electrical controls, pumps, valves, and other mechanical parts. Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems when necessary; ensure all work complies with safety regulations including EPA standards for refrigerants. Utilize hand tools and mechanical systems repair techniques to complete field service tasks efficiently. Interact professionally with customers to explain repairs or system issues clearly while delivering outstanding customer service. Maintain detailed service records, logs of inspections performed, parts used, and system diagnostics for each job completed. Drive company van safely between job sites while adhering to all transportation regulations; ensure vehicle maintenance is up-to-date. Experience Proven experience as an HVAC/R Service Technician or in a similar field service role with construction experience preferred. Strong knowledge of HVAC system repair, installation procedures, electrical diagnostics, refrigeration systems, and building automation controls. Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and HVAC system layouts. Mechanical knowledge related to plumbing systems and mechanical systems repair is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with HVAC system maintenance including troubleshooting equipment issues using tools like ohmmeters or multimeters. Prior experience working with boilers or appliance repair is advantageous. Customer service skills that enable clear communication with clients about technical issues and solutions. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; appropriate licenses for property maintenance or HVAC work are a plus. Ability to work independently in the field while managing multiple service calls efficiently.
