We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager specializing in mechanical and plumbing systems to lead complex commercial and industrial construction projects.
The role focuses on delivering HVAC and plumbing installations on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards. The Senior Project Manager will manage project teams, maintain client relationships, prepare and review estimates, coordinate with contractors and stakeholders, and ensure compliance with industry codes and best practices. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage end-to-end mechanical and plumbing construction projects, including HVAC system installations, upgrades, and commissioning.
Prepare, review and validate detailed estimates, budgets and schedules; monitor cost control and implement corrective actions to meet financial targets.
Coordinate project planning and execution with general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects and owners to ensure project objectives are met.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using MS Project (or equivalent) and track milestones, deliverables and critical path activities.
Manage project teams and subcontractor performance, including hiring, mentoring, performance evaluations and dispute resolution.
Oversee procurement of materials and equipment, verify submittals, and ensure timely delivery and installation.
Ensure projects comply with applicable codes, standards and specifications (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC) and manage permitting and inspection processes.
Implement and enforce health, safety and quality management plans on-site; conduct regular site inspections and safety meetings.
Prepare regular progress reports, change orders, RFIs and status updates for stakeholders and senior leadership.
Identify and mitigate project risks, develop contingencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project delivery. Qualifications Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience managing mechanical/plumbing construction projects, with demonstrable experience in HVAC systems.
Proven experience in estimating and cost control for mechanical and plumbing scopes, including preparation and review of detailed take-offs and bids.
Strong construction management background with hands-on experience coordinating subcontractors and on-site teams.
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM or relevant trade licenses are a plus.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes, standards and best practices (IBC, IMC, IPC, NFPA, ASHRAE).
Proficiency with project management and estimating software (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, Trimble, Accubid or similar).
Excellent communication, leadership and client-facing skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
