Position Summary Do you have the technical skills to keep critical systems operating at peak performance? We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration systems across HELSTF facilities. This role supports essential environmental-control operations including refrigeration systems, ventilation systems, process coolers, reverse osmosis systems, computer room cooling systems, and advanced building automation controls. What You'll Do Job-Specific Responsibilities Install, service, and repair environmental-control systems.Work with refrigeration systems including:
Hermetic Semi-hermetic Mechanical Screw Scroll Centrifugal units up to 1100 tons Install and repair air conditioning, ventilation, evaporative cooling, and compressed air systems. Mount compressors and condensers according to blueprints and engineering specifications. Assemble and install ductwork and chassis components. Install expansion and discharge valves. Connect motors, compressors, controls, and ventilation systems to electrical panels and power sources. Conduct leak checks using refrigerants, nitrogen gas, gauges, and leak detectors. Monitor and adjust system pressure and vacuum controls. Replace defective thermostats, breakers, wiring, switches, and electrical components. Install and service HVAC units ranging from 15-200 tons cooling capacity throughout HELSTF buildings. Complete special assignments as directed by supervisors. Qualifications Education ✔ High School Diploma or GED required ✔ Completion of a two-year formal apprenticeship or HVAC training program required Experience ✔ Minimum 3 years of HVAC experience ✔ Proficiency in heating and ventilating equipment required ✔ EPA Universal Certification for refrigerants required Licenses & Certifications ✔ Valid Driver's License required Required Background & Security Checks Applicants must successfully complete: Office of Inspector General/CMMS Exclusions List Driving Record (MVR) Office of Personnel Management/Federal Investigative Services Security Clearance General Background Check FBI Top Secret Clearance and NMDOH Fingerprinting are not required for this position.Company Expectations Successful candidates will:
