As an HVAC Technician, you will work under general supervision in accordance with established maintenance methods, techniques, standards, and administrative policies of Akron General Medical Center. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment and systems. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform general HVAC, refrigeration inspections and tests. Perform HVAC, refrigeration and building automation system troubleshooting and repair. Completes preventive maintenance tasks and service repairs via the work request system. Plan, layout, install/modify and repair components of the building automation system. Work off of electrical and pneumatic schematics. Replace air handling unit belts, bearings, etc. Clean steam coils, hot and chilled water coils, condensers, and evaporator coils as required. Keep track of supplies and take inventory. Record time and materials used. Enter collected data on forms and reports. Monitor HVAC and refrigeration equipment installation to ensure they are added to the computerized maintenance management system. Write work orders for additional work to be completed. Coordinate work assignments with Nursing, Admitting, other departments, and staff. Respond to critical alarms and all operations related emergencies including but not limited to restoring electricity (power failure reset), water, steam, medical gases, heating, cooling, resetting the main fire alarm system and devices. Assist with departmental operations. Work weekends, nights or as assigned. Assist and trains others and perform other similar or lesser skilled duties as assigned. Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Follow hospital/system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety. Other duties as assigned Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma/GED Combination of education and equivalent work experience in at least two of the following fields specified byAkron General Medical Center:
refrigeration; HVAC; pneumatic controls; refrigeration control circuits; building automation systems Universal Refrigeration Certificate (EPA) Experience in general building or hospital maintenance, blueprint and one-line wiring diagram reading Ability to work rapidly under emergency conditions and to effect repairs with due consideration to patient care and personnel Maintain current Universal refrigeration reclaiming license Valid Ohio driver's license Any employee who is determined to be uninsurable under AGMC's plan will not be permitted to drive a company vehicle Ability to learn all phases of maintenance procedures, emergency response procedures, and fire protection systems Initiative and good judgment to make effective repairs without the need to consult with others Ability to speak, read, write, make calculations, follow detailed written and verbal directions, train and coordinate the work of others Able to pass Akron General Medical Center's position examination Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Four years of apprenticeship or equivalent trade school NATE certification (North American Trade Associate)Physical Requirements:
Willingness to work under undesirable conditions (dust, odors, heat, cold, noise, and construction hazards) when necessary.Personal Protective Equipment:
