Job Description

This isn't a traditional estimating role. You'll use your field knowledge and mechanical expertise to develop design build solutions before they're ever put on paper. A day in the life of a Mechanical Design Build Estimator can look like: Visiting commercial customer sites to evaluate existing HVAC and mechanical systemsWalking mechanical rooms to assess equipment condition and identify replacement or upgrade opportunitiesDeveloping complete design build solutions for commercial mechanical projects where engineered plans do not already existPreparing detailed estimates for HVAC equipment, piping, sheet metal, labor, subcontractors, and associated project costsEstimating projects such as boiler replacements, chiller replacements, rooftop unit replacements, mechanical room renovations, piping modifications, and other commercial HVAC improvementsWorking closely with customers, sales, project managers, operations, vendors, and suppliers to develop practical, cost-effective solutionsObtaining vendor and subcontractor pricing while ensuring estimates are accurate, complete, and competitiveSupporting project turnover to operations once projects are awarded

JOB REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of commercial mechanical estimating experience preferred, or equivalent commercial HVAC service experience with the technical expertise to develop design build solutions and prepare accurate project estimatesStrong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, hydronic piping, and sheet metal systemsAbility to evaluate existing mechanical systems and develop project scope without engineered plans or specificationsStrong understanding of commercial equipment replacement projects and mechanical system upgradesExcellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to build relationships with customers and internal teamsValid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites Gardiner is committed to creating an accessible application process.
