Duties Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems. Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and building automation system (BAS) controls to diagnose issues accurately. Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults in wiring or components. Perform plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems, including refrigerant line repairs and drainage issues. Repair mechanical systems such as pumps, fans, motors, and weld or fabricate parts as needed for equipment repair or modification. Ensure compliance with EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and maintaining necessary certifications. Use field service techniques to respond promptly to service calls at various properties while maintaining safety standards. Assist with HVAC design modifications or upgrades to improve system performance and energy efficiency. Maintain detailed service records, logs of inspections, repairs performed, parts used, and system performance data for accountability and future reference. Requirements Proven construction experience with HVAC installation or repair projects. Service technician experience in commercial or residential settings preferred. Strong understanding of schematics, mechanical systems repair, electrical diagnostics, refrigeration principles, and building automation systems. Knowledge of HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) equipment operation and maintenance. Ability to read technical diagrams and schematics accurately; familiarity with HVAC design concepts is a plus. Mechanical knowledge related to plumbing systems and boiler operation; welding skills are advantageous. Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants; relevant licenses such as driver's license required for field service mobility. Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is desirable for specialized environments. Familiarity with property maintenance tasks related to air conditioning units and mechanical systems repair. Ability to use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters effectively; experience with building automation systems (BAS) is beneficial.
