GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The HVAC Instructor is responsible for providing classroom and hands-on instruction in PTTI's Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Program. The instructor will prepare students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, safety awareness, and professional competencies necessary for entry-level employment in the HVACR industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver classroom and hands-on HVACR instruction in accordance with PTTI's approved curriculum, lesson plans, policies, and instructional standards. Provide instruction in HVAC safety, tools and equipment, refrigeration fundamentals, electrical systems and controls, air-conditioning systems, indoor air quality, heating systems, energy management, and commercial refrigeration. Demonstrate proper HVACR installation, maintenance, diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair techniques. Provide hands-on instruction involving electrical circuits and controls, motors, refrigerant systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, ductwork, piping, heating equipment, and related HVACR components. Reinforce proper refrigerant handling, EPA requirements, PPE, OSHA standards, and safe use of HVACR tools and equipment. Prepare classrooms, labs, equipment, materials, demonstrations, and practical exercises for daily instruction. Monitor and evaluate student performance through assignments, practical demonstrations, assessments, projects, attendance, and classroom participation. Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and other required academic documentation. Maintain an organized, professional, and safe classroom and laboratory environment. Provide additional instruction and support to students who require assistance mastering technical skills. Reinforce professionalism, communication, teamwork, customer service, troubleshooting, and workplace-readiness skills. Participate in faculty meetings, training, professional development, student activities, and other school-related responsibilities. Maintain compliance with PTTI policies, procedures, curriculum requirements, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Perform other related instructional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated professional experience in HVAC, HVACR, refrigeration, or a closely related field (2 years minimum). Strong working knowledge of residential and/or commercial HVACR installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Knowledge of HVAC electrical systems, controls, refrigeration principles, heating and cooling systems, tools, equipment, and industry safety practices. EPA Section 608 certification strongly preferred. OSHA certification and additional HVAC/R industry certifications preferred. Ability to effectively demonstrate technical concepts and provide hands-on instruction to students with varying levels of experience. Strong communication, organization, classroom-management, and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet applicable PTTI and Pennsylvania instructor qualification requirements.

The HVAC Instructor is expected to provide consistent, industry-relevant instruction; maintain a safe and productive learning environment; effectively develop students' technical and professional skills; maintain required academic documentation; and support students in successfully preparing for employment in the HVACR industry.

$28.00 - $35.00 per hour
