Lead HVAC Service Technician Janal Heating Redwood City, CA Job Details Full-time $30 - $45 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Qualifications Customer communication EPA Certification Full Job Description Lead HVAC Service Technician / Startup Technician Janal Heating & Air Conditioning is seeking an experienced Lead HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team. This is a key position within the company, serving as our primary service technician and playing an important role in service, system startups, commissioning, and installations. As a third-generation, family-owned company serving the Bay Area since 1976, we take pride in quality workmanship, professionalism, and delivering exceptional service to our customers. Schedule Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Overtime opportunities available Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot residential and light commercial HVAC systems Service and repair gas furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, mini-splits, and ventilation systems Perform startup, commissioning, and verification of newly installed systems Verify proper airflow, refrigerant charge, controls, and overall system performance Read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical and control issues Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, builders, and project managers Complete service reports and documentation accurately Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and work area Support and mentor junior technicians and installers Assist with heating and air conditioning installations as needed. This is a hybrid position, and when service demand is slow, technicians must be willing and able to perform HVAC installation work. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of HVAC field experience preferred Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple HVAC brands and system types Experience performing system startups and commissioning Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, airflow, controls, and electrical diagnostics Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field Excellent customer service and communication skills EPA Certification required Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to lift equipment and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and on ladders What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Company vehicle Growth opportunities within a growing family-owned company Supportive team environment Opportunity to help shape and lead the service department If you take pride in quality workmanship, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to be a key part of a company with over 50 years of history serving the Bay Area, we'd love to hear from you.
