Repairs and maintains refrigerator and electrical systems and their components, as well as troubleshoots electrical systems and writes schematics for their work locations. The HVAC Technician is proactive in the timely completion of preventative maintenance of all equipment. Role Priorities /
Responsibilities:
Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, and cooling units Diagnoses and repairs electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems Understands company pricing and generates appropriate customer invoice at job site Reads and accurately interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals Accurately tracks incoming inventory and documents all installed equipment upon arrival Carries out preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on HVAC equipment Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, and/or processes to evaluate quality or performance Obtains customer signature at completion of job. Obtains correct customer information including email address Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle Diagnoses diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer's recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct the issue Identifies and reports potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services) Orders Freon and necessary gases according to regulatory compliance standards Handles, disposes and repairs refrigerants without causing problems in the environment Readily supplies new installation needs as designed by others or by performing the necessary design calculations to properly size the system
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Highly skilled in HVAC equipment, safety, best practices, regulations and operations Knowledgeable in the principles of refrigeration and saturation Knowledgeable in technical components such as motors, loop systems, and water treatment Skilled in welding and brazing techniques Safety conscious Polite, hygienic, and works well with others Mechanical inclination Equipment Selection, Installation, Operation Monitoring, Troubleshooting, Repair and Maintenance Able to work directly with customers, other technicians and managers Demonstrates excellent communication skills Able to use a computer to send e-mails, create and store documents, search the inter/intranet Able to use hand/power tools, electronic devices and gauges properly and safely Skilled in quality control analysis Demonstrates analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail
Education or Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent, plus required certs EPA Certification required Universal HVAC Certification required NATE Certification preferred 3 years of experience with installation, maintenance & repair of A/C, ventilation and heating units Clean driving record
