POSITION SUMMARY
As an HVAC Helper, you support our Mechanical service operations in the DMV area, working alongside HVAC Mechanics and other trades to prepare, protect, and clean job sites so work can be completed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, dependable, safety-focused, respectful of residents' homes and belongings, hardworking, and possesses a willingness to "do whatever it takes" to facilitate the completion of each project. This role is intended to be a full-time hourly position, based in the DMV area, and reports to the Division Manager. No prior HVAC experience is required, we will train the right person.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare occupied units before work begins by laying plastic sheeting and floor protection, masking off surfaces, moving or covering residents' furniture and belongings, and setting up dust containment Protect residents' property at all times; report any damage or concerns to your supervisor immediately Enter and work in residents' homes professionally, maintaining cleanliness, respecting privacy, and following all access, notification, and safety protocols Perform clean-up throughout the day and at the end of each work order, including removing plastic and debris, vacuuming/sweeping, wiping down surfaces, and restoring the unit to its original condition Assist HVAC Mechanics with maintenance and repair of HVAC, boiler, and plumbing systems by handing tools, holding and positioning materials, and performing basic tasks under direction Load, unload, stage, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from the truck, mechanical rooms, and work areas, including in and out of multi-story buildings Safely drive between assigned multi-story residential properties and suppliers to pick up materials and provide support, manage time effectively, and comply with traffic laws and company driving policies Properly use, maintain, and secure tools and equipment; keep vehicle, mechanical rooms, work areas, and job sites clean, organized, and safe at all times Communicate and coordinate with supervisors, co-workers, other trades, residents, and others to resolve issues efficiently and professionally, ensuring minimal disruption to residents Perform minor touch-ups and adjustments required for final inspections, walkthroughs, and close-out Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues promptly Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and job-site protocols Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns immediately Regularly lift and carry materials and equipment, work on ladders, and work in tight spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms (This job posting is not intended as a complete list of activities, duties, or responsibilities for this position.)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to reliably arrive on time to varying job sites throughout the DMV area Preferred Qualifications will also have OSHA 10 certification; a high school diploma or GED; know or understand Spanish; prior construction, maintenance, or trades experience. Salary Range:
$18 - $23 per hour based upon experience and qualifications
