Job Description

Steward Machine is a multi-generation family-owned business having enjoyed a successful history of over 100 years. They offer complete turnkey responsibilities by detailing shop drawings, fabricating, welding, stress relieving, machining, gear cutting and assembly in-house. Primary Purpose of the Position The Industrial Maintenance Specialist will use their mechanical skills and knowledge in a variety of applications. They will work on various types of equipment and systems in an industrial machine shop environment. They play an essential role in our business through the upkeep of the building and mechanical systems. They will split their time between repair, maintenance, and the installation of system components. Essential Functions / Duties
  • Install, assemble, and rigorously test new machines and equipment, ensuring full compliance with all workplace safety regulations.
Conduct regular, thorough inspections of machines for signs of malfunction, including detailed visual assessments, auditory checks for irregular noises, and precise scheduled testing. Proactively monitor, identify, and promptly respond to critical signs of machinery malfunction, such as performance deviations, temperature fluctuations, unusual sounds, odors, or atypical energy consumption, performing advanced troubleshooting for production machinery. Strategically schedule and execute comprehensive routine preventative maintenance and service for every piece of equipment. Execute emergency repairs on diverse machinery types, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and swiftly identify and replace worn or damaged components to minimize downtime. Proficiently utilize a wide array of power and hand tools to effectively perform all job functions. Ensure optimal cleanliness of machinery and the surrounding workplace, and meticulously create and maintain a rigorous schedule for equipment inspection, service, and testing. Accurately interpret and strictly comply with all work orders pertaining to machinery service, modification, or installation. Precisely identify necessary parts for repairs and efficiently coordinate the requisition process for all required components. Effectively coordinate with other skilled trades to facilitate comprehensive repairs. Collaborate effectively with team members in a high-noise industrial environment. Commit to working overtime as required to ensure timely completion of critical repairs and to maintain production schedules.

  • 5-10 Years of Strong mechanical and manufacturing maintenance experience Drivers license Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended amount of time Ability to act competently in emergencies Organized and detail-oriented Must know how to install machines, and do electrical, will be tested on wiring up motors and transformers during interview Must have knowledge of schematics, assembly, mechanical Must know precision type work Measurement skills such as reading dial calipers, micrometers and tape measurements Must know how to do Single and 3 Phase troubleshooting and motor controls.

Working Conditions In this dynamic industrial setting, the employee will encounter various elements including moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. This role may involve working in diverse environmental conditions such as outdoor weather, extreme temperatures (heat or cold), and wet or humid environments. Exposure to certain chemicals and the risk of electrical shock and vibration are also part of the operational landscape. The ambient noise level within the work environment is typically moderate. Physical Requirements This active, hands-on role regularly requires standing, walking, and sitting, along with the skilled use of hands for handling and feeling, reaching with arms, and effective communication through talking and hearing. Occasional demands include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, and the ability to detect odors. This role may involve occasionally lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds. Essential visual abilities encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
