Responsibilities:
Perform all duties in strict adherence to PRS safety policies and required PPE. Tear down, repair, replace, rebuild, and reassemble mechanical components. Clean small and large motor parts using approved methods. Conduct daily inspections and operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and related equipment. Use air tools, die grinders, drills, and other basic mechanical tools. Route and connect hydraulic plumbing systems. Perform basic wiring and electrical assembly tasks. Perform light fabrication and parts alterations as needed. Operate saws, lathes, drills, and other machinery. Read and follow QWIs and other assembly instructions. Inspect, troubleshoot, and run equipment to verify proper operation. Read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and sketches. Use precision instruments and gauges for accurate assembly and inspection. Perform multiple production roles with high proficiency. Test, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical and electrical components.
Experience, Skill & Education:
2-3 years of mechanical experience or technical certifications with relevant mechanical bac Strong understanding of mechanical systems and tools. Preferred familiarity with locomotive components and diesel engine systems. Preferred understanding of track components, signaling, railcars, and railcar components. Education High School Education, GED, or vocational/technical training.
Essential & Physical Functions:
Ability to lift 50 lbs; work in tight, confined spaces during repairs. Frequently standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs and steps. Exposure to high noise, vibration, cutting torches, and welding operations; PPE required. Ability to read QWIs, schematics, and follow detailed instructions. Indoor or outdoor work; exposure to temperature extremes, weather, oils, lubricants, and industrial conditions. Work cooperatively as part of a team to meet production goals. Work around live tracks, heavy equipment, and hazardous operations; strict adherence to safety policies (including blue flag rules).
