The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix. The Water Production Division is currently seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (IMM). These positions perform and lead journey-level installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment - including pumps, blowers, centrifuges, gearboxes, valves, and valve actuators used throughout water and wastewater treatment facilities, reclamation plants, groundwater wells, pumping stations, lift stations, and reservoirs. Assignments are diverse, requiring expertise across multiple mechanical trades, including fabrication and millwright work. IMMs work both independently and as part of a team, with opportunities to serve as lead on assigned projects.IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be dependable, demonstrate a positive attitude, and work effectively as part of a team. They will also be capable of performing the physical demands of the role, including: Working in various weather conditions and outdoor environments. Working in confined spaces and at heights greater than 10 feet. Safely lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.SALARY Pay Range:
$31.06 to $48.19 per hour.Hiring Range:

Four years of skilled experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work, including one year in a lead capacity. Experience must include the fabrication, installation, and repair of large mechanical equipment, deep well, turbine, and water and wastewater pumps, including work with submersible and turbine deep well units and centrifugal booster pumps. Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver License Instructional Permit at the time of hire and possession of a Class A Commercial Driver License after 12 months in the classification. In addition, individuals may be required to pass an Arizona Department of Transportation physical exam and possess the appropriate commercial driver's license (CDL). Pre-employment drug testing is required for CDL positions. Employees in CDL positions will be subject to unannounced alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment. Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 Water Treatment certification by end of the probationary period. If you possess certification from another state or jurisdiction, please contact the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (http://www.azdeq.gov) for Arizona Request for Operator Certification Reciprocity procedures and certification equivalency. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position. These positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 Water Treatment certification.Experience in/with:
Using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Industrial piping repair and fabrication and using dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and precision shaft alignment equipment. Repairing and maintaining large industrial equipment, including blowers, centrifuges, turbines, pumps, generators, hydraulic systems, high-speed rotating equipment, gearboxes, and air compressors. Rigging and hoisting heavy equipment with boom trucks, mobile cranes, or overhead bridge cranes. Performing welding, cutting, and metal fabrication. Performing industrial piping fabrication and repair. Working with gear box systems and mechanical linkage applications.RECRUITMENT DATES
