A Refinery Mechanical Planner develops detailed work packages for mechanical maintenance and equipment turnaround (shutdown) activities.

Core Responsibilities:
The role bridges operations and maintenance, determining the step-by-step procedures, labor estimates, materials, and safety protocols required to repair and maintain fixed and rotating refinery equipment safely and efficiently.
Job Package Development:
Create detailed, step-by-step job plans, including craft hour estimates, tooling requirements, and equipment specifications.
Material Management:
Order necessary spare parts, manage Bill of Materials (BOMs), and coordinate with procurement to ensure parts are staged before maintenance begins.
Safety & Compliance:
Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), verify equipment isolation, and ensure all plans comply with OSHA and refinery safety standards.
Work Order Management:
Review incoming notifications, prioritize mechanical backlog, and maintain accurate task lists.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and contractors to align maintenance schedules with refinery production goals.
Key Requirements & Qualifications Experience:
Typically requires 3-7 years of mechanical maintenance experience within a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), isometrics, and complex equipment blueprints. [1]
Software Proficiency:
Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project). #INDW
