Job Description

LG Defense Corp, a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, is hiring one licensed elevator mechanic for a 5-year federal government contract at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. This is a stable long-term position with guaranteed hours for the full 5-year contract period. One location. Every day. Done by 2pm.
YOUR SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM 30 hours per week guaranteed Overtime available for after-hours testing — paid at 1.5x
WHAT YOU DO EVERY DAY
Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on 21 elevator and lift units Respond to elevator calls and malfunctions during your shift Maintain machine room log books for each unit Coordinate with VA facility management on daily issues Participate in formal monthly PM inspections Run monthly fireman recall tests (after hours, overtime paid) Submit daily activity log to LG Defense management
EQUIPMENT YOU WILL WORK ON
Motion Controls cable and hydraulic elevators (majority of units) Schindler 5500 Machine Room-Less traction elevators ThyssenKrupp hydraulic elevator Otis hydraulic elevator Matot cable dumbwaiters

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Active DC Elevator Mechanic License issued by DCRA — required, non-negotiable NAEC Certified Elevator Technician or equivalent IUEC or DC Board of Trades certification Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with traction, hydraulic, and MRL elevator systems Experience with Motion Controls, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp, or Otis equipment Knowledge of ASME A17.1 and A17.3 safety codes Must pass VA background check Tuberculosis test required before start date Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience at a VA medical center or federal government facility Experience with Motion Controls equipment specifically IUEC union journeyman card Lockout/tagout certification
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Base hourly wage: $58
  • $65/hour depending on experience Guaranteed weekly hours: 30 hours minimum Overtime for after-hours testing: 1.
5x rate, approximately 3-5 hours per month Annual wage increase: 3% guaranteed every year of the contract Health insurance stipend: $500/month paid directly to you — choose your own plan Paid federal holidays: All 11 federal holidays paid Paid time off: 10 days per year Annual base compensation: $90,480
  • $101,400 Total package with overtime and benefits: $105,000
  • $120,000 Contract secured through April 2031 — your position is guaranteed for 5 years.
