Job Description

Railroad Concrete Tie Manufacturing Plant | Full-Time | Permanent Position We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair critical production equipment at our railroad concrete tie manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, skilled trade role focused on keeping heavy manufacturing machinery running reliably in a production environment.
  • This is NOT a building maintenance, facilities, or general handyman position.
  • We are looking for mechanics with proven experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial production equipment, hydraulic systems, and manufacturing machinery.
  • What You'll Do:
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and support plant output.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on manufacturing machinery (including material handling systems, mixers, conveyors, presses/tensioning equipment, saws, and cranes).
  • Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems efficiently.
  • Disassemble, repair, or replace defective components using hand and power tools, hoists, cranes, and welding/cutting equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections and ensure strict compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols (including Lockout/Tagout).
  • Document maintenance activities and support continuous improvement of equipment reliability.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and fabrication of repair parts as needed.
  • Requirements
  • Must Have:
  • Minimum
  • 3 years
  • of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a
  • manufacturing plant or heavy industrial environment
  • (building maintenance, apartment complex, or general facilities experience does
  • not•qualify).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with
  • hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • .
    • Solid electrical troubleshooting ability, including 3-phase motors, motor controls, and VFDs.
    • Proficient in welding (MIG and/or stick) and oxy-acetylene torch cutting; fabrication skills are a plus.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
    • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs regularly, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in an industrial environment (noise, dust, concrete production setting).
    • Strong safety mindset with experience following formal safety procedures.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
    • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing.
    • Experience with concrete production equipment, aggregate handling, prestressing/tensioning systems, or similar heavy manufacturing machinery.
    • Basic PLC troubleshooting or controls experience.
    • Millwright background or welding certification.
