Job Title:
Sr. Mechanical Designer Job Description The Sr. Mechanical Designer is responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of complex, large-scale industrial machinery and mechanical systems. This role collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and assembly documentation for custom equipment, heavy machinery, automated systems, and industrial production equipment. The position is ideal for a seasoned mechanical designer with extensive experience in large mechanical assemblies, a strong grasp of mechanical design principles, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment integration. Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize and design complex, large-scale industrial machinery and mechanical systems for custom equipment, heavy machinery, automated systems, and industrial production equipment.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and assembly documentation to support manufacturing and installation activities.
  • Apply advanced mechanical design principles to large mechanical assemblies, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Perform engineering calculations and utilize finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs and optimize structural integrity.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure designs align with project requirements, production capabilities, and cost targets.
  • Integrate mechanical designs with industrial automation systems, conveyors, material handling equipment, robotics, and process machinery as required.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, including ANSI and OSHA, as well as other applicable codes and regulations.
  • Support field installations and equipment commissioning by providing technical guidance, resolving design-related issues, and updating documentation as needed.
  • Lead or support project teams as a project leader or lead designer on large capital equipment projects, coordinating design activities and contributing to project planning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including revisions and as-built records. Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 8+ years of mechanical design experience, with a focus on large machinery and complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong proficiency in mechanical design principles and practices for industrial equipment and heavy machinery.
  • Advanced 3D modeling capability using SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for detailed engineering drawings and layouts.
  • Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) and engineering calculations to validate and optimize designs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex machinery design and large equipment projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline. Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including conveyors, material handling equipment, robotics, and process machinery.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, OSHA, and other applicable industry standards and regulations related to industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Experience supporting field installations and equipment commissioning, including troubleshooting and design adjustments.
  • Project leadership or lead designer experience on large capital equipment projects, with the ability to coordinate design activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong design documentation skills, including the creation and maintenance of assembly documentation and engineering drawing packages.
Work Environment This position is based on site in an industrial environment where large-scale machinery and custom equipment are designed and supported. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams, as well as direct interaction with production areas and equipment during installation and commissioning. The work setting emphasizes safety, adherence to industry standards, and effective communication across disciplines to deliver complex mechanical systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00
