Job Title:
Crane Technician Job Description The Crane Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and installation of heavy-duty industrial crane systems ranging from 120 to 200 tons. This role combines hands-on electrical and mechanical work in a demanding industrial environment and requires frequent work at heights and around heavy equipment to ensure cranes operate safely and reliably. Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on crane systems, including both electrical and mechanical components. Inspect and service overhead cranes, jib cranes, and gantry cranes to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation. Complete routine monthly crane inspections, accurately document findings, and communicate any issues that require corrective action. Handle upgrades, modifications, and system improvements on existing crane equipment to enhance performance and reliability. Diagnose and resolve issues with motors, controls, wiring, and structural components of crane systems. Support the installation and commissioning of new crane systems, ensuring proper setup, testing, and safe operation. Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, man lifts, and overhead cranes as needed to support maintenance and installation tasks. Follow all safety protocols and procedures, especially when working at heights and around heavy industrial equipment. Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to guide troubleshooting, repairs, and installations. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for tools, equipment, and safety gear. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in heavy equipment maintenance, crane repair, or crane service. Experience performing preventative maintenance programs on industrial equipment. Experience supporting installation and commissioning of new industrial systems. Ability to identify and implement system upgrades and improvements. Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing complex issues. Effective communication skills to document findings and collaborate with team members. Why Work Here? Work is performed in an active industrial facility where technicians regularly operate and work around forklifts, telehandlers, man lifts, and overhead cranes. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Brownsburg, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
