Job Description

Job Title:
Assembly Mechanic 1st or 2nd shift - $23-$26/HR Job Description The Assembly Mechanic builds and assembles mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components for paving and construction equipment in a clean, state-of-the-art manufacturing environment. This role works from blueprints and schematics to produce custom equipment, using a wide range of torque and pneumatic tools while ensuring all equipment meets established shop standards. The Assembly Mechanic collaborates closely with team members and support personnel to meet changing production schedules and maintain high-quality output. Responsibilities Assemble mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of paving and construction equipment according to blueprints, diagrams, and schematics. Build custom equipment based on blueprint and schematic specifications, ensuring accurate fit, function, and quality. Assemble frames, build axles, and install motors, air conditioning units, and electrical harnesses. Use click wrenches, torque wrenches, ratchets, pneumatic pulse tools, pneumatic tools with stall bars, nutrunners, and DC electric wrenches to perform precise assembly work. Calibrate tools and fixtures as required to ensure accurate torque and proper operation. Apply extensive use of pneumatic pulse equipment to achieve correct torque on assemblies. Work with hoses, port fittings, jam nuts, pipe threads, non-ferrous fittings, A/C fittings, special torque applications, and bulkhead fittings. Inspect all assembled equipment to ensure it conforms to shop standards and quality requirements. Work effectively in a team environment, coordinating closely with other mechanics and support personnel such as engineering and purchasing. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to address parts discrepancies or related issues when needed. Coordinate work to meet changing production schedules and adjust tasks as priorities shift. Identify and communicate discrepancies in assembly processes, bills of materials (B.O.M.), parts shortages, and safety issues, and relay information for correction. Follow established procedures, manuals, and production instructions to complete mechanical assembly tasks safely and efficiently. Perform basic preventive maintenance on tools and equipment used in the assembly process. Why Work Here? Employees work in a large, modern facility dedicated to building high-quality paving equipment used on construction sites, with a strong emphasis on respect, support, and consistent feedback. Supervisors provide regular weekly feedback to help employees grow and succeed, and the organization celebrates major holidays with events, gifts, or prizes for all employees. The culture values teamwork, recognition, and a positive shop environment where employees feel appreciated and engaged. Work Environment The role is based in a clean manufacturing environment within a very large, state-of-the-art facility where multiple lines of equipment are assembled. The setting operates more like a mechanic shop than a traditional assembly line, with work progressing through different stages from start to finish rather than repetitive single-task stations. Employees use a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and torque tools, including click wrenches, torque wrenches, ratchets, pneumatic pulse tools, nutrunners, DC electric wrenches, and other hand and power tools. The environment emphasizes organization, safety, and quality, with clearly defined shop standards and support from engineering, purchasing, and other departments. Work is performed in a collaborative cell-based setup, where employees typically work closely with at least one other team member to meet changing production schedules.
