Job Description

The Opportunity When you join Smurfit Westrock, you will be joining a team that creates sustainable paper and packaging solutions that help move the world forward. In this multi-craft role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial mechanical and electrical equipment, with an emphasis on electrical components and controls. You will work closely with plant operations and maintenance team members to support safe, reliable equipment performance, product quality, and outstanding service to our customers. How You Will Make an Impact
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial mechanical and electrical equipment, including electrical control systems down to the component level.
  • Maintain and repair power transmission equipment, including gear drives, three-phase motors, servo motors, hydraulic motors, and pneumatic motors.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair transfer systems, including conveyors, lifts, turntables, and chain drives.
  • Read schematics and service pneumatic, hydraulic, and fluid-transfer systems, including pumps, shutoffs, flow-control sensors, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors.
  • Complete planned maintenance inspections, lubrication, and repairs according to the assigned schedule while following required PPE, lockout/tagout, and safety pre-check procedures.
  • Perform basic fabrication using assembly instructions, tape measures, calipers, dial indicators, and power tools such as drills, grinders, sanders, and drill presses.
  • Use basic computer and email tools to support maintenance communication and documentation, and contribute to plant goals through effective teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or other members of the leadership team. What You Need to Succeed Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems down to the component level.
  • At least two to three years of hands-on experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of power transmission, conveyor and transfer, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fluid-transfer systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
  • Basic fabrication skills and the ability to safely use measuring instruments and power hand tools.
  • Basic computer and email skills.
  • Ability to work independently, work flexible hours, and work overtime as required.
  • Willingness to complete a NOCTI assessment as part of the pre-employment selection process for pre-qualified candidates.

  • Military technical training, technical school education, or other relevant industrial maintenance training.
  • Experience in corrugated packaging or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Welding skills.
  • Knowledge of boiler principles and operations.
