Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary AMG Resources has grown into one of the world's largest processors and marketers of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at our Newark, NJ yard, you will be part of a team tasked with keeping industrial equipment running safely and efficiently. You will tackle everything from hydraulic systems and gearboxes to overhead cranes and air compressors ----- ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect & Diagnose:

Quickly and accurately identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in industrial machinery.

Repair & Maintain:

Service gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic systems, low-voltage electrical controls, air systems, hoists, cranes, and more.

Preventive Maintenance:

Execute scheduled PMs to extend equipment life and prevent costly breakdowns.

Fabrication & Welding:

Use welding, cutting, and fabrication tools to rebuild or replace worn and damaged components.

System Testing:

Calibrate and tests repaired equipment to verify safe, reliable operation.

Safety & Compliance:

Follow OSHA regulations and company safety protocols at all times. Keep work areas clean, safe, and well-organized.

Record Keeping:

Log all maintenance activities and parts usage in our CMMS.

Team Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to plan repairs and improvements.

Continuous Improvement:

Recommend enhancements to maintenance procedures and PM programs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications Mobile Equipment:

2+ years experience troubleshooting and repairing large mobile equipment (Preferred)

Hands-On Experience:

5+ years as an industrial/mechanical maintenance technician (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrial).

Technical Training:

Completion of a vocational/technical program in industrial maintenance, machining, or related field (preferred).

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Mechanical Aptitude:

Strong troubleshooting skills with industrial equipment, and support equipment.

Electrical Knowledge:

Familarity with low-voltage circuits, controls, and wiring practices.

Welding & Fabrication:

Proficient in stick, MIG, or TIG welding and sheet-metal work.

CMMS Savvy:

Experience logging work orders and parts in computer-based maintenance software.

Safety Mindsset:

Thorough understanding of OSHA standards and a commitment to "safety first."

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 50 lbs, work in varied positions (kneeling, stooping, laying), and tolerate outdoor/indoor climate extremes.

Soft Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational ability, and a self-motivated, team-oriented attitude.

Other:

Must be 18+ with reliable transportation, pass a pre-employment exam, and authorized to work in the US.
