Summary of position: An Industrial Sewing Machine Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing industrial sewing machines to ensure efficient production. Duties include troubleshooting mechanical and electronic issues, replacing worn parts, calibrating equipment, and performing preventative maintenance to reduce downtime. The role also includes maintenance, repair, and installation of other manufacturing equipment at Individualized Shirts, such as fusing, cutting, and pressing equipment. The ideal candidate can independently diagnose and resolve issues using technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer documentation, applying logical troubleshooting to efficiently identify and fix problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair:
Disassemble machines, replace defective components (needles, hooks, motors), clean, lubricate, and reassemble machines to restore functionality.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose malfunctions through testing, analyzing, and inspecting machinery, particularly in fast-paced production environments.
Calibration:
Adjust machine timing, tension, and speed to meet precise production specifications and handle different fabrics.
Preventative Care:
Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdown and extend equipment life.
- Ability to read and interpret technical sewing machine manuals, schematic drawings, and blueprints.
- Strong technical familiarity with modern Juki sewing machines such as the Juki 9000 Smart solution machines.
- Ability to program Automated Juki sewing machines such as LBH-1790-S and
LK-1903BN
with indexers.
Problem-Solving:
Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Independently coordinate with machine manufacturer technical support on advanced repairs as needed.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Manager on ordering part and supplies as needed.
- Ability to work with fellow mechanics on projects or repairs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED. Specialized training, certifications, or a trade school background in sewing technology a plus.
Required Experience:
3-5 years of experience maintaining, repairing and calibrating sewing machines. Experience and/or combination of training and education will be considered.
Language:
English required, bilingual in English & Spanish a plus.
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
