Our state-of-the-art, highly automated, continuous horizontal aluminum casting operation runs 24/7/365 — and the Night Crew (7PM-7AM, 12-hour crewing) keeps it moving safely and reliably. A night in the life As the plant shifts into night operations, you'll complete pre-shift safety checks, prioritize preventive maintenance, and respond to calls on continuous process equipment. One hour you may be replacing a hydraulic pump and verifying pressures; the next, you're tracing a motor fault back through a PLC input and consulting schematics to isolate the issue. You'll partner with production, champion crew safety, and document your work in the CMMS so the next crew has a clean handoff. What you'll work on Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot continuous process machinery across motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyors, water systems, and other production equipment using diagrams, specifications, and operator manuals. Dismantle equipment safely using hoists, cranes, and appropriate tools to remove and replace defective parts. Execute maintenance such as replacing pumps, motors, chains, sprockets, and cables; repairing/replacing drives; troubleshooting PLC logic; fabricating and mounting guards; and adjusting hydraulics. Maintain personal protective equipment and actively promote BCC Safety Regulations. Complete required PMs and related documentation in the CMMS; contribute to reviews and special projects that improve equipment reliability. About the cast house The cast house houses an aluminum smelter and casting lines. Howmet's smelters are among the safest in the world. Our modern aluminum operation relies on trained, skilled operators and maintenance experts to perform at peak levels. Qualifications Basic High School Diploma or GED (from an accredited institution) At least 2 years of mechanical or electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment Ability to read and apply electrical and hydraulic drawings/schematics Preferred Experience with combustion systems Proven safety mindset and behaviors for people, equipment, and product Strong troubleshooting experience Hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair practices Preventive maintenance experience Five years performing mechanical and electrical maintenance in a manufacturing environment or foundry Schedule and pay
