In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain complex, highly automated manufacturing machinery. The ideal candidate possesses a robust background in mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearing) paired with strong electrical skills and advanced PLC troubleshooting capabilities . You will be responsible for minimizing production downtime by performing preventative maintenance, executing emergency repairs, and optimizing automated systems.
Key Responsibilities PLC & Automation Troubleshooting:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and fault-find PLC-controlled production lines using programming software (e.g., Allen-Bradley RSLogix/Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal).
Mechanical Systems Repair:
Repair and rebuild industrial equipment, including high-speed packaging machinery, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, and blowers.
Fluid Power Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including proportional valves, cylinders, manifolds, and accumulators. [
Electrical Systems Maintenance:
Troubleshoot industrial electrical circuits up to 480V 3-Phase, including VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), servo motors, sensors, relays, and motor starters. Preventative & Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM): Execute scheduled PMs, use laser alignment tools, perform vibration analysis, and document all actions in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Equipment Upgrades:
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams to assist engineering teams with machinery installations and modifications.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician or multi-craft mechanic in a heavy manufacturing or high-speed packaging environment.
PLC Background:
Demonstrated ability to connect to a PLC online, monitor ladder logic, trace I/O faults, and modify code if required.
Multi-Trade Mastery:
Equal proficiency in mechanical fabrication (welding/machining is a plus) and electrical diagnostics.
Problem-Solving:
Strong critical thinking skills to quickly isolate root causes of complex, combined electro-mechanical failures under time constraints.
Safety Mindset:
Strict adherence to OSHA standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash safety, and confined space protocols. Education & Certifications High School Diploma or GED required. Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Automated Systems (highly preferred). Valid Journeyman license in a relevant trade (Millwright, Electrician, or Industrial Mechanic) is a major asset. Certified PLC Technician credential or formal OEM automation training is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
