Job Description
JENNMAR Services is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support operations at a coal preparation plant. This role is critical to ensuring maximum uptime, equipment reliability, and safe production flow across all plant systems.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for individuals who can diagnose, repair, and prevent failures in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment with minimal supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative and corrective maintenance on prep plant equipment, including:
Conveyors, belts, rollers, and pulleysCrushers, screens, and feedersPumps, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic systemsDense media systems, cyclones, and flotation circuitsTroubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issuesConduct daily inspections to identify wear, damage, or failure risksExecute lockout/tagout procedures and follow all safety protocolsPerform welding, cutting, and fabrication as neededReplace bearings, shafts, belts, and structural componentsAssist with plant shutdowns, rebuilds, and major repairsMaintain accurate maintenance logs and reportsWork closely with plant operators to minimize downtime and improve efficiencyRequired Qualifications3+ years of maintenance experience in a coal prep plant or heavy industrial environmentStrong knowledge of:
Conveyor systemsRotating equipment (motors, pumps, gearboxes)Hydraulics and pneumaticsExperience with welding (stick/MIG preferred) and torch workAbility to read and interpret blueprints and schematicsProven troubleshooting ability under pressureFamiliarity with MSHA safety standardsPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience specifically in a coal preparation plantBasic electrical troubleshooting (480V systems a plus)Experience with PLC systems or plant automationMillwright backgroundMSHA certificationPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift 50+ lbs regularlyClimb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spacesWork in dusty, wet, and high-noise environmentsStand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periodsWork EnvironmentIndustrial coal preparation plant settingExposure to moving machinery, weather conditions, and production demandsMust be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed#IND2
