A mechanical assembly technician for emergency vehicles is a professional responsible for the fabrication, upfitting, and repair of custom emergency vehicles including fire trucks and ambulances. Responsibilities Assembling and installing specialized equipment, including hydraulic systems, water pumps, air conditioning, and braking systems Modifying and retrofitting vehicle chassis to meet specific customer requirements Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematic drawings, and wiring diagrams to ensure precise assembly Troubleshooting mechanical systems and performing final functional tests to ensure compliance with safety standards Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Wear and maintain all required PPE Comply with all safety regulations Support team members with vehicle repair and prep tasks as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years' experience preferred Strong hands-on experience with hand tools, powers tools, and metalworking Previous experience in heavy-duty truck maintenance, vehicle upfitting, or a similar manufacturing environment is often required Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills are crucial ASE and EVT certifications are not required, but highly desirable Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently Must supply own tools Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs.; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stretching, reaching, fine and gross manipulation Additional Details
