Job Description

Position Summary The Shift Mechanic performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities and troubleshooting services to ensure equipment is in safe and proper working condition and available for production. This may include support related to product changes, shutdown/startup activities and upset events. The Shift Mechanic provides information on spare/replacement parts and opportunities to improve reliability. The Shift Mechanic works an assigned shift schedule in a non-climate-controlled area. Essential Functions Perform shift rounds, equipment inspections, complete assigned work orders and respond to support calls Inspect, operate or test machinery to diagnose equipment malfunctions Use blueprints, repair manuals, parts catalogs or other means to determine how to assemble, install, repair or replace machinery and equipment Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears or other parts of machinery Request parts needed for repairs and/or spare inventory Help identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern Communicate observations, feedback and suggestions on equipment performance Secondary Functions Use of hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoist, saws, drills and wrenches Demonstrates commitment to safety and general housekeeping Demonstrates commitment to customer quality, business results and continuous improvement Expected to increase knowledge of buildings, grounds, infrastructure and operations Other assignments as requested Required Training Confined Space Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Line Break Hot Work Forklift Certified Required competencies and skills Strong mechanical aptitude Strong listening and communication skills. Decision Making, Initiating Action, Adaptability, Tolerance for stress, Flexibility Knowledge of heavy industrial equipment and general manufacturing is a plus.
