Steam Plant Mechanic - Facilities Services - UTK

The role of the Steam Plant Mechanic is to work under the supervision of senior mechanics to perform inspections and repairs on boilers and associated equipment, pumps, turbines, compressors, and other auxiliary equipment in the steam plant.

Required Qualifications Education:

High school diploma or

GED Experience:

Must have mechanical knowledge and between 1-3 years' related experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of welders and cutting torches and other related tools needed in the steam plant

Preferred Qualifications Education:

Related vocational or technical training

Experience:

Must have mechanical knowledge and 5 years' related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

As the University of Tennessee Knoxville's largest non-academic department, team members are responsible for facilities maintenance and repair, custodial needs, landscaping and lawncare, utility work, in-house and capital construction projects, facilities planning and design, environmental initiatives, pest control, campus event services, and facilities administration functions for both the flagship campus and the agricultural institute. The Facilities Services staff provides around-the-clock coverage to ensure students, staff, faculty, and fans have a consistent and positive experience every time they step foot on Rocky Top. Repair boilers, pumps, compressors, turbines, and other related equipment Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery/equipment Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery. Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs Go inside of the boilers to inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance Responsible for operating a forklift, painting, and cleaning
