For us, it's Tuesday. At The Shape Sensing Company , we build the sensing technologies that help surgeons navigate medical devices with greater precision inside the human body...and we're growing. What you'll do: Own the mechanical aspects of sensor manufacturing: develop, maintain, and continuously improve production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and processes Design and build calibration, test, and quality control fixturing for precision sensor systems Support mechanical design across the organization, including enclosures, system-level assemblies, and customer-facing components Develop and execute mechanical test, characterization, and validation procedures Drive manufacturability improvements in collaboration with engineers and technicians Support scaling of manufacturing workflows from prototype to production Contribute to internal R D efforts and customer-specific product development in the medical device space Generate and maintain engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and test documentation What you bring: BS/MS in Mechanical, Biomedical, Aerospace, or related engineering 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and hands-on problem-solving ability Proficiency in CAD and creation of engineering drawings Hands-on expertise with 3D printing, machining, and fabrication techniques Familiarity with common shop equipment (CNC, laser cutter, drill press, etc.) Experience with MATLAB and/or Python Bonus points for: Lab and R D experience, including experiment design, execution, and documentation Background in robotics, motion systems, or sensors and instrumentation Familiarity with medical device development environments and quality systems Knowledge of fiber optics or fiber optic sensing technologies Who you are: A self-starter who takes ownership and doesn't wait to be told what to fix Detail-oriented and methodical, but able to move fast when it counts Equally excited by a tricky design problem and a messy production issue Eager to learn outside your primary field Someone who wants their work to matter, and to see it end up in an operating room Why here: Small team. Real ownership. Work that ends up inside operating rooms. If you want to build things that matter and see your fingerprints on a product from prototype to production, we'd love to hear from you.
