Job Description

The J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position with a nine-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall 2027. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor depending on qualifications and credentials. The department will consider individuals with demonstrated expertise and experience in the processing, manufacturing, and mechanical behavior of powder-based materials, including advanced ceramic and metallic systems relevant to hypersonic, nuclear, and other extreme-environment applications. Areas of interest include additive manufacturing, powder synthesis and processing, metastable and high-entropy materials, advanced characterization, and mechanisms governing deformation, degradation, and performance under extreme environments. Successful candidates will join a growing and collaborative cluster of faculty working at the intersection of processing, manufacturing science, and advanced materials, with the goal of advancing the frontiers of mechanical performance. The successful applicant will be required to teach, advise and mentor graduate students, develop an independent, externally funded research program, participate in all aspects of the department's activities, and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline. Applicants should consult the department's website to review our academic and research programs ( http://engineering.tamu.edu/mechanical ). Qualifications Applicants must have an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline. Application Instructions Applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and personal statement to include philosophy and plans for research, teaching, and service as applicable, and a list of four references (including postal addresses, phone numbers and email addresses) by applying for this specific position at apply.interfolio.com/186486 .
