Previous industrial battery experience is preferred but not required. However, this is not an entry-level technical position. Applicants must have prior hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, automotive, or industrial equipment. Training will be provided on battery-specific systems and procedures. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing industrial batteries, battery chargers, watering systems, and related equipment used in electric forklifts and other material-handling applications. Work will be performed both in the shop and at customer locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Inspect, test, diagnose, and repair industrial batteries and battery-charging equipment. Troubleshoot electrical problems using multimeters, load testers, and other diagnostic equipment. Perform voltage testing, capacity testing, cell inspection, and charger-output testing. Repair or replace battery cables, connectors, terminals, fuses, wiring, and related electrical components. Diagnose charger failures and complete authorized repairs or component replacements. Perform battery cleaning, watering, equalization, and preventive maintenance. Inspect battery compartments, rollers, restraints, extraction systems, and related equipment. Safely remove, install, and handle industrial batteries using approved equipment and procedures. Identify additional repairs and safety concerns and provide accurate information for customer estimates. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications. Complete service documentation accurately, including equipment information, findings, work performed, and recommended repairs. Maintain assigned tools, diagnostic equipment, service vehicle, and inventory. Follow all company, customer, environmental, and safety requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Previous hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, automotive, or industrial equipment. Working knowledge of electrical principles, including voltage, amperage, resistance, continuity, and series circuits. Experience using a multimeter and other electrical diagnostic equipment. Ability to identify electrical faults and determine an appropriate repair instead of relying solely on parts replacement. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical instructions. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Ability to work independently after completing battery-specific training. Dependable attendance and a professional attitude. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. High school diploma or equivalent. Applicants without hands-on electrical, mechanical, automotive, or industrial equipment experience will not be considered.

Experience in one or more of the following areas may qualify: Industrial equipment or facility maintenance Automotive, diesel, or heavy-equipment electrical repair Forklift or material-handling equipment repair Golf cart or electric vehicle repair Battery, charger, generator, or power-system service Commercial electrical troubleshooting Field service or electromechanical equipment repair Military electrical or mechanical maintenance

Preferred Qualifications :

Industrial battery or charger experience Forklift or material-handling industry experience Experience working with lead-acid or lithium-ion battery systems Experience repairing high-frequency or conventional battery chargers Field-service or customer-facing repair experience

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, climb, stand, and work in industrial environments for extended periods. Ability to work around industrial batteries, electrical equipment, battery acid, and cleaning or neutralizing materials while wearing required personal protective equipment. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.

Training :

Sunbelt Material Handling will provide training on industrial batteries, chargers, testing procedures, safety requirements, documentation, and company processes. This training is intended to build upon the candidate's existing electrical or mechanical experience and is not a substitute for foundational technical skills.

Pay:
