Back Motor Mechanic Light Industrial Magna , UT temp to hire Jun 22, 2026 Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Mechanic / Rotating Equipment Technician to join its Motor Services team in Magna. This position is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of electric motors and rotating equipment removed from industrial machinery such as pumps, generators, conveyors, gearboxes, and other heavy equipment. The majority of the work involves servicing pump motors and industrial electric motors in a shop environment. Candidates should be mechanically inclined, comfortable working with large components, and able to safely use lifting equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Disassemble and inspect electric motors, pump motors, generators, and rotating equipment. Diagnose mechanical failures and identify worn or damaged components. Clean, repair, rebuild, and reassemble motors and related equipment. Remove and replace bearings, seals, shafts, couplings, and other mechanical components. Assist with motor testing, troubleshooting, and quality inspections. Operate overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, and shop equipment safely. Read and interpret work orders, schematics, and technical documentation. Perform alignment, balancing, and precision measurements as required. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines. Assist with loading, unloading, and moving large equipment within the shop. Qualification (Required) 2+ years of mechanical experience in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, electric motors, pumps, automotive, diesel, or related trades. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work around heavy industrial equipment. Ability to read and follow technical instructions and repair procedures. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Preferred Experience rebuilding electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, or generators. Industrial maintenance or rotating equipment experience. Bearing installation and alignment experience. Forklift and overhead crane experience. Welding or fabrication experience. Technical school or trade school training. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work with tools throughout the shift. Work around large industrial equipment and rotating machinery. Ability to wear required PPE and work safely in a shop environment.
