Crater - Industrial Crate & Pallet Builder 🚀 About the Role Join a team where your craftsmanship and reliability make a real impact. As a Crater , you'll build custom wooden crates and palletized solutions that protect large industrial components during shipping and storage. This is a hands‑on, active role perfect for someone who enjoys working with tools, building things, and seeing the results of their work every day. You'll work in an industrial warehouse environment, supporting outbound logistics and helping ensure heavy, oversized parts are shipped safely and securely. 🔧 What You'll Do Build custom wooden crates for large industrial parts Construct pallet containers for smaller components Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, and secure materials Receive and organize parts delivered by forklift Palletize products to ensure stability during transit Apply shrink wrap and inspect coverage for quality Use vacuum sealing equipment when required Follow all safety guidelines for tools, materials, and heavy components Keep your work area clean and organized Collaborate with your team to meet shipping timelines Support overtime and occasional Saturday work when needed 🛠️ What You Bring Experience with hand tools (hammers, drills, saws, measuring tools) Power tool experience in construction, manufacturing, or similar work Background in manufacturing, construction, or general labor Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, carrying, standing) Ability to follow work orders and build to spec Strong attention to detail when building and wrapping parts Comfort working in outdoor warehouse conditions Willingness to work 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with overtime opportunities ➕ Nice-to-Have Skills Packaging or kitting experience Experience with crate building, palletizing, or logistics Background in shipping heavy or oversized components Ability to work safely around forklifts and material‑handling equipment Strong work ethic and reliability 🌟 Why You'll Love Working Here Contract‑to‑hire opportunity with long‑term stability Health, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) options for long‑term financial planning Consistent daytime schedule with overtime available Build valuable skills in industrial packaging and logistics Supportive team environment where your work is recognized 🏭 Work Environment This role is based in an outdoor warehouse that is not climate‑controlled. You'll work in hot summers and cold winters, with fans and heaters provided as needed.

Shift:

6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Overtime:

Up to 2 hours/day + occasional Saturdays Daily routine: Park in the front lot → check in with security → walk through the yard to the back warehouse Hands‑on environment using hand tools, power tools, shrink‑wrap equipment, vacuum sealers , and working alongside forklift operations Standard industrial workwear expected Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
