Job Description

Metal Rollforming Systems (MRS) is a locally owned, well-established manufacturing company with over 30 years of experience designing and manufacturing rollforming equipment for the roofing and siding industry. We handle design, machining, fabrication, and assembly in-house, providing a hands-on, end-to-end design environment. We are seeking a mid-level Mechanical Designer with strong SolidWorks experience and a manufacturing mindset to join our mechanical drafting and engineering team. Position Overview This is a hands-on, mid-level designer role, focused on creating detailed, production-ready designs for industrial machinery. The position is best suited for someone with prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment who is comfortable generating drawings used directly by shop personnel. This role is not an entry-level drafting position nor a full mechanical engineer role. Key Responsibilities Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks Design and detail structural and sheet metal parts, weldments, machined components, and assemblies Produce manufacturing-ready drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and BOMs Collaborate closely with engineering, fabrication, machining, and assembly teams Participate in design reviews and implement design improvements Support troubleshooting and revisions for existing equipment Maintain accurate documentation and revision control Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional experience as a Mechanical Designer or Mechanical Drafter Minimum 2+ years of SolidWorks experience in a manufacturing environment Experience creating fabrication and production drawings Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy Ability to work 100% on-site in Spokane, WA Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience with industrial equipment or heavy machinery Knowledge of sheet metal design, weldments, and machined parts Basic familiarity with GD&T Exposure to pneumatics, hydraulic and/or electrical systems
Schedule Monday-Thursday:
6:00 AM - 4:30 PM Friday overtime as needed Compensation & Benefits $28-$35 per hour , depending on experience 401(k) with company matching Comprehensive benefits package after 90-day probationary period Secure employment with planned company growth over the next 2-5 years Collaborative company culture with direct access to leadership Additional Information Portfolio or sample drawings required In-person SolidWorks skills assessment during the interview process Pre-employment drug screening required
