Job Description
The City and Borough of Sitka is seeking to hire a temporary worker to assist our full-time mechanics with fleet maintenance. This position will assist with preventative and reactive maintenance and shop upkeep. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Assisting in diagnosing equipment and vehicle issues Performing basic maintenance such as oil changes, tire maintenance, and brake pad replacements Cleaning vehicles, shop equipment, and work areas Assisting with management of inventory and organization Supporting mechanics with inspections, maintenance, and repairs Preferred mechanical experience includes a basic knowledge of engines and vehicle systems, familiarity with hand and power tools, and workspace safety practices. Additional desired skills include attention to detail and a willingness to learn. Applicants must be at least 18 years old; HS diploma or GED; and possess a valid driver's license. Applicants must have the ability to perform medium-to-heavy manual labor.
