Resumes are not accepted in lieu of an application. - The City of Folsom's Utilities Departmen t is currently recruiting for a Part-Time Maintenance Worker to support the Waste & Recycling Division . The Waste and Recycling Division of the Utilities Department operates a residential door to door collection program for household hazardous waste by appointment. The current opening is primarily to assist with this program. The ideal candidate has training and experience with the proper handling of hazardous waste, including waste properties and necessary safety precautions . The program operates out of the city's corporation yard. Schedule Regular work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Hours will be 15-20 hours per week. Pay & Benefits Non-exempt, hourly rate. $16.90 - $26.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

Examples of Essential Duties NOTE:
The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all the duties listed.
Waste and Recycling:
Clean, label, assemble, and repair waste collection containers in the corporation yard and at customer locations. Deliver and remove waste collection containers from customer locations. Assist with collection and unloading of household hazardous waste and bulky waste. Assist with loading and unloading event supplies, including setup and cleanup for the events. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Employment Standards NOTE:
The level and scope of the knowledge and abilities listed below are related to job duties as defined under "Distinguishing Characteristics."
Knowledge of:
Safe work practices. Basic methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in grounds and facilities maintenance; and waste and recycling. Routine cleaning and maintenance of grounds, and/or other facilities.
Ability to:
Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and correctly. Follow oral and written instructions. Maintain simple records and logs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.
Experience:
No experience is required. Experience with the proper handling of hazardous waste, including waste properties and necessary safety precautions is highly preferred.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
