ABOUT THE ROLE
The City of Fountain Valley Public Works Department is seeking one (1) Full-Time Maintenance Worker II - Streets to join our team! This position performs a variety of manual, semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of a variety of Public Works streets, sidewalks and traffic signs, and performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists in the removal, replacement and overlay of a variety of asphalt concrete, street and highway sections. Maintain, repair and install traffic signs, markings and street striping. Remove, form, pour and finish Portland cement concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters and other concrete structures. Operate jack hammers, compressors, grinding machines, saw cutting machines, water blaster, crack fillers, and other power equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, traffic signs and delineation. Remove graffiti utilizing power equipment and/or chemicals. Perform strenuous manual work as required, including digging, back-filling of trenches, etc. Qualification Guidelines
EDUCATION
High school graduation equivalent. College coursework with an emphasis in maintenance, and/or construction maintenance is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE
At least one (1) year of previous maintenance experience in the repair, rehabilitation and construction including streets, sidewalk, curb and gutter, and traffic signs, preferably in a municipal setting At least six (6) months of experience as a Maintenance Worker I with the City of Fountain Valley.
LICENSE REQUIRED
A valid California Class C Driver's License is required to perform the essential functions of the job. A Class "A" "B" Commercial Driver's License for manual transmissions with tanker and air brake endorsements is highly desirable. Maintain, at all times, the license required for this job description.
