NITC ASSE 6040

Medical Gas Maintenance Technician (apprentice) to join our growing team.

Job Description:

As an Entry-level position focused on developing foundational technical skills under close supervision, your primary responsibilities include Annual Inspections and Preventive Maintenance Repairs. Apprentices must work alongside a credentialed technician, with all reports reviewed and quality-controlled by the credentialed technician. After a full year of consistent employment, the apprentice will complete a 32-hour online course for the

ASSE 6040

credential, sponsored by CMS. After completion of the course, the apprentice must pass a proctored, closed book 100 question exam with a score of 75% or higher for certification and earn the title of a Certified Medical Gas Maintenance Technician.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with maintenance and inspection of medical vacuum and medical air systems.
• Learn and follow NFPA 99 and

ASSE 6040

standards

• Accurately document service activities and inspection results
• Participate in classroom and on-site field training
• Travel to healthcare facilities with certified technician during apprenticeship.
• Calibration of air quality test equipment

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Clean driving record (must be insurable) No DUI's/DWI's.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to travel regularly and work flexible hours as projects require.
• Ability to work in a physically active environment, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, good communication skills, and legible handwriting.
• Ability to work early mornings (must be on time) and off shifts as needed.
• Consistent on-time attendance is an essential function of this role.
• Represent CMS as a professional ambassador of the brand.
• Must be able to climb a latter with tools, not afraid of heights, lift up to 50 lbs.

Schedule:

• 8-hour shift, with overtime/double time as needed.
