The Lower Campus serves students in grades PK-8 and the Upper Campus serves students in grades 9-12. Summary of Position Ojai Valley School is currently seeking a full-time Grounds & Maintenance Employee to support the care, maintenance, safety, and overall appearance of the school's campus and facilities. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining a clean, safe, attractive, and well-functioning school environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will be dependable, hands-on, self-motivated, and able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the Facilities and Maintenance team. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy school environment. Key Responsibilities & Duties The Grounds & Maintenance Employee's primary responsibility is to assist with the daily care, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the school's grounds, buildings, and outdoor facilities . The employee will work closely with the Facilities/Maintenance team to ensure the campus remains safe, clean, functional, and welcoming. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Maintain lawns, landscaping, trees, shrubs, gardens, walkways, and other outdoor areas. Perform routine landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, watering, and general grounds upkeep. Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment safely and appropriately. Have basic knowledge of electrical needs/repairs. Replacing light bulbs/switches and electrical sockets. Plumbing experience to help replace faucets, plumbing leaks/fixtures, repair water and sewer lines. Assist with irrigation system maintenance and identify and report leaks or other irrigation concerns. Perform general building and facility maintenance, including minor repairs and upkeep as assigned. Maintain cleanliness and organization of outdoor areas, maintenance areas, storage spaces, and work areas. Assist with preparation of athletic fields, outdoor recreational areas, and campus facilities for school activities and events. Remove trash, debris, leaves, branches, and other materials from campus grounds. Assist with campus set-up and breakdown for school events, including moving tables, chairs, equipment, and other materials. Monitor campus grounds and facilities for potential safety hazards and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Assist with preventative maintenance projects and larger campus improvement projects as needed. Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner at the direction of your supervisor. Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety, equipment use, and working around students. Maintain appropriate boundaries and professionalism when working in areas occupied by students. Assist with emergency maintenance needs or other operational needs as directed. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation and appearance of the school.
