Orange Lutheran High School is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and mission-driven part-time Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of school vehicles, small engines, and equipment. This role ensures that transportation and operational equipment remain safe, functional, and ready for daily use in support of students, staff, and school activities. The Mechanic plays a role in supporting the school's mission to "help students internalize the Gospel message of salvation in Christ Jesus" by maintaining safe, reliable equipment and supporting responsible stewardship of school resources.Reports to:

NoneESSENTIAL DUTIES
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Perform routine maintenance on school vehicles, including oil changes, brake service, tire rotation, fluid checks, and general inspections Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and minor body issues on school vehicles and equipment Maintain small engines, including lawn equipment, utility carts, and maintenance tools Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life Perform safety inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment meet operational and regulatory standards Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records Shop & Inventory Support Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area Track parts, fluids, and supply inventory; notify supervisor of needed replacements Assist in ordering parts and coordinating with vendors when needed Properly dispose of used fluids and materials in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines Operational & Team Support Assist the Maintenance and Operations team with equipment-related tasks as needed Provide timely response to maintenance requests involving vehicles or mechanical equipment Support event, athletic, and transportation needs when mechanical assistance is required Interact with students, faculty, staff, and vendors in a professional and respectful mannerADDITIONAL DUTIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Education High school diploma or equivalent required Technical or trade school training in automotive or mechanical repair preferred Experience 2+ years of experience in automotive, small engine, or mechanical repair preferred Experience with fleet or institutional vehicles is a plusLICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES
Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record Cleared background/fingerprint check Cleared TB assessment Completion of Ministry Safe TrainingKEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge Basic automotive systems, including brakes, electrical, cooling, and engine components Small engine maintenance and repair Preventative maintenance practices Skills and Abilities Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to maintain accurate records Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to represent the mission, vision, and values of OLu to all stakeholdersPERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
